Students at Sts. Joan of Arc & Patrick School participate in "special" classes that help develop a well-rounded child. STSJP is committed to helping students discover and nurture interests in areas outside the required academic curriculum.
Students have ART classes with licensed teachers. Students explore a variety of mediums and techniques while creating their own works of art. Students develop their own skills while developing an appreciation for the works of others.
MUSIC at STSJP focuses on both performance and understanding. Students learn to read music through study and application through vocal and instrumental performance. Fourth grade students learn to play recorders, while 5th grade plays the hand chimes. All students participate in either the fall or spring musical production. Additionally, there is a focus on liturgical music, with opportunities to serve as song leaders during school Masses twice each week.
Healthy habits are taught through PHYSICAL EDUCATION classes. Weekly classes emphasize both fun and skills. Students participate in the President's Fitness Test yearly to gauge their skills and development.
COMPUTER classes allow students progress in their knowledge of computers and applications. Our youngest students develop motor skills by using computers for learning games. Older students master common programs through targeted instruction, and apply those skills by utilizing computers in other academic courses.
Our school is blessed with beautiful LIBRARIES at both campuses. Library time offers opportunities to explore the world of reading, increase knowledge touched on in other academic classes, and to learn how to utilize resource materials. In addition to library class, students have opportunities to use expanded resources through the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library Bookmobile.
